Monthly Campouts
Scouts BSA Boys Troop 141 has monthly camping trips during the school year, with a day event during the busy month of December. The Scouts choose what activities they want to experience at campouts, then destinations are chosen to fit these activities. Often, campouts take place at one of the many Northern Star Council camps, though sometimes the troop stays at state and county parks. Per troop policy, cabins are available during winter months, though Scouts are encouraged to sleep outside when equipment and weather permit. Activities at campouts run the gamut from canoeing and hiking to downhill skiing and gaming.
Many Point
The troop has a decades-old tradition of spending a week in July at the venerable Many Point Scout Camp, four hours northwest of the Twin Cities. Here, Scouts work on their choices of dozens of merit badges, take on new physical and mental challenges, develop themselves personally, and take on leadership roles, all while having a week of unmatched fun.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is Scouting’s honor society, recognizing youth and adults who are committed to enhancing the Scouting experience through cheerful service.
Merit Badge Opportunities
There are many ways Scouts can work on advancement, especially merit badges, with programs outside troop activities. Check out our list of outside merit badge opportunities.
Serving the Community
Each year, the troop takes part in several service projects. In the spring, they collect hundreds of pounds of food for local foodshelves through the annual Scouting for Food campaign. In the fall, Scouts volunteer at the Minnesota Transportation Museum’s Pumpkin Express, where they help bring families harvest-time and Halloween joy. Come Memorial Day, the troop assists the Palmer Lake VFW pay tribute to fallen soldiers. Beyond these traditions, the troop assists other community groups when needed.
